Originally a photographer, I see all of my work through my own lens. What I see, I paint. If I don’t see it, I simply can’t paint it. I have always been intrigued with people; faces, features, expressions, all so completely different and yet so extremely powerful. I paint portraitures of iconic faces from our contemporary history. In creating these visual narratives I aim to infuse a particular energy and vibrancy that will awaken memories and feelings about the personalities and events that shape the cultural landscape of today.
Using multiple layers of vibrant color and varied texture , I strive to convey each likeness with a twinkle or a whimsy. As my work has developed, my perspective and execution of stroke and rhythm have become less defined and more fluid. I am humbled by the fact that some people have enjoyed my work and I hope that it challenges, cajoles and beckons the viewer to engage with the subject.
